CREATING A NEW AGE HOME, WITHIN AN OLD WORLD IMAGE;
EMBRACING THE PAST WITH A VIEW TOWARD THE FUTURE.

MY DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Jerome Cerny believed in creating a new age home, with an old world image. the times have changed but that focus has not. Today our philosophy is:

DESIGNING FOR THE FUTURE, DRAWING FROM THE PAST

We focus on how our client will live in their home, not just today, but well into the future. We strive to deliver a design that is aesthetically pleasing and technologically sound. We expect our designs to stand the test of time.

Jon W. Welker

Born in Chicago and raised in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, Jon studied architecture at the University of Illinois (Urbana/Champaign), graduating with a Bachelor of Architectural Studies in 1977.

Jon began working for Jerome Cerny Architects (JCA) during his summer breaks from 1969- 1970. He was drawn to Cerny’s marriage of “Old World” architecture and modern living, and the unique, intricate detailing Cerny had created.

In 1977, with his degree in hand, Jon split his apprenticeship between working with JWW Builders, Inc. (Custom Homebuilder, Barrington) and DRLA Architects of Glenview, IL. In 1982, he took the state board exam and became a licensed Architect in 1983. The same year, he purchased his one-time employer: Jerome Cerny Architects, Inc. The firm relocated to Arlington Heights., IL for the next 3 years, and then moved to Barrington in 1986.

Jon has kept alive the tradition of design excellence and attention to detail that Jerome Cerny started and Bob Erdmann continued. Although JCA is still widely known for its French Country styling, Jon has added a wide variety of other designs in both residential and commercial projects all of which echo the classic “Cerny Style. Jon has designed many homes throughout the country, but he is most proud of the 28 homes he designed and built in the Wynstone Golf Club located in North Barrington, IL.
